Jean Nate by Revlon was introduced in 1935. This timeless classic refined scent is sweet and spicy. Never overpowering, this feminine scent possesses a blend of spice and florals.

In the very early1960s, I was “dresser” for Patrice Munsel, who starred as Anna in THE KING AND I in a summer Music Theatre production north of Chicago. This was a crazy and wonderful job experience for a young me, and Ms Munsel was elegant and as gentle as she was commanding. She always SPLASHED with Jean Nate’ and used to invite me to use her supply! (She said her husband loved it, and that it made her totally refreshed. Performing under lights is a warm job!) All this is a very long intro to the fact that I love the product and have used it all the years since that summer theatre experience! Memories for me as a now elderly lady and about the now deceased star of opera and the musical theatre so long ago. Hurray for the longevity of such a memorable product!

This is the 2nd time I’ve purchased the 30 oz. size. I am trying to contact Revlon directly to see if they even manufacture this product any more and in what forms. Jean Nate is mainly alcohol with citrus scents. It’s is well received by sensitive noses and men can even wear it. It’s just like some after shaves. However, the longer the screw top bottles hang around, it loses potency. I believe, in some instances, it has even been substituted by people. I won’t buy that size again. Fragrances are one of those things with no expiration date, however, you can tell once you open it just how long its been sitting in some perfume house downtown. The box has no seal or tamper proof packaging.Genuine Jean Nate is important to its users — especially people working up front and close, i.e., waitress, beauticians, care givers, medical personnel — you get it. Places where perfume is not appropriate or tolerated, Jean Nate is!!!The best way to wear it is ON CLOTHING (the splash) unless after shower and you’re going to bed. Even then lingerie retains lightness in the drawer when a quick spray hit them. I’ve tried transferring from the big bottle to a spray bottle. It quickly loses potency even more. Be sure to use BPA FREE bottle if you do.I believe the reviews are for the smaller sizes. Whoever put that $69 price tag on the powder is criminal and doesn’t know a thing about Jean Nate. It is always modestly priced no matter what.If you can find a gift set, in original packaging (splash, powder, lotion) then you’ve got the real deal and $35 was the absolute highest price for that set. The set may still be nice if it hasn’t been sitting around long. That’s why I’m trying to contact REVLON.

Honestly, I can’t believe this stuff is still around! My mom used to buy it for me when I lived under her roof (now that I think about it, she was probably just trying to cover up my gross teenagery funk). She ended up buying it for herself and hasn’t stopped, since like, the 90s. She also wears the same clothes, too. Being from Alaska, we have no style other than parkas and moon boots. This stuff was the “bee’s knees” of smells. The name itself conjures up images of a French maid playing the seduction game with the butler. Their forbidden, yet inevitable romance story utterly ending in tragedy. Or unemployment. Either way, it’s intriguing. And so is the product. It comes in a large economy size container that is sure to last a long time if appropriately applied and not bathed in. I mean, we don’t want to scare off the butler with copious amounts of the alluring scent, now do we?Fast forward to 2017: my mom was staying at my place and ran out of her bless-ed “Jean Nate” and made me order some for her. And she loves it. And I love her. She is happy. So I am happy. My favorite part about all of this is that she says it with a horribly fake French accent to make it sound more fancy than it actually is. Like when people say “Tar-jhey” for Target. So classy!

Should have listened to other reviewers. This does not even come close to the original Jean Nate. It has a strong alcohol scent, that irritates my eyes. Where is the refreshing lemon scent that I remember? Don’t know if it’s worth it to send back. I may do as another dissatisfied customer suggested and add it to vinegar and water to make a cleaner. On top of it all, it’s “Made In Mexico”.

A classic light and citrusy scent – perfect for wearing during the humid hot days of summer in Florida. It is not cloying yet lingers lightly in the skin for several hours. Skins feels soft after application. I keep mine in the fridge which gives it an extra cooling effect. My mother wore this while I was growing up so I have been wearing it a long time. There are other more expensive name brand scents out there with citrus base notes, and I have sampled them. Jean Nate stands up tall (no kidding it is a hefty size) and delicious to all of them.

I thought the folks saying that it didn’t smell right were nuts. Well, they were right on. This bottle smells like it was made with something stale. It was not sealed at all. At first I was told I could not return because it is hazardous since I opened it. Told them it was never sealed in the first place. They are crediting me the full price.

Wish I’d read the reviews more completely. This stuff, whatever it is, is NOT Jean Nate. I used the splash as a teen and in early 20’s. Even with reformulations, none of my favorites from those years smell really bad in modern form, just different or not as long lasting. This stuff has NO fragrance AT ALL! I even sprayed a dozen or more sprays into the sink drain to clear the contents of the plastic sprayer tube. Nothing. I splashed out some from the open bottle into my hand to apply. Nothing. What it smells like is this: a drawer full of plastic bags on a hot day. Imagine that smell all over your body. YUCK!!!!! Total waste of money.

I originally purchased this product out of curiosity. I remember it always being in my grandmother’s cleaning cabinet along with Fuller Brush’s Lily of the Valley cologne, in the house I grew up in. So that this product was still around after all these years was interesting. I purchased it and when I opened the bottle to smell the scent, I was taken back in time. My grandmother was Italian. We grew up with marble stairs leading up from the entrance door. Weekly she washed the stairs. Afterwards there was a lovely scent that lasted for several days. Everyone that came to the house commented on it and asked what she used to clean. She gave them the name of the cleanser, but apparently, never the name of the scent. *smile* I never knew it either, until now. I don’t have marble stairs. Just a tiny tiled bathroom. But after cleaning it, I splash Jean Nate on the tiles and smoosh it around the floor. It took a few times to get the amount right to where it was pleasant and fresh but not overpowering. But I’ve got it now. It lasts for atound 4 days. I wipe the countertops with it too. It might not be for everyone, but for me, it’s attractive.

I don’t know what this is but it’s not original Jean Nate. I wore this scent every summer. It was a fresh citrus clean smell. The product I received today selled like cheap mens cologne. That’s money I’ll never see again. Disappointed in Revlon and Jean Nate. Another legacy fragrance bites the dust.
